The Research Results Transfer Offices (Spanish acronym OTRI) were set up in late 1988 to promote cooperation in R+D activities between researchers and firms both in Spain and abroad.
Almost all universities and public research centres in Spain have an OTRI, as do many university-company foundations and technology centres. The offices in the universities have the following aims:
- To promote the participation of the university community in R+D projects.
- To set up a database covering all aspects of R+D – knowledge transfer, infrastructure and facilities available – at their respective universities.
- To identify and evaluate the results generated by the research units, in terms of their transfer potential and to make them known to companies either directly or in conjunction with other university-business interfaces.
- To facilitate the transfer of these results to companies.
- To cooperate and participate in the negotiation of contracts for research, technical assistance, assessment, patent licences, and so on, between research units and companies.
- With the support of the university’s administrative services, to oversee the successful implementation of the contracts.
- To supply information concerning the various R+D programmes, to provide technical support for the design and implementation of projects, and to manage their processing.
You can access the OTRIs of all Spanish universities across the network directory OTRI
