It is estimated that approximately 60.000 – 63.000 Greek students study abroad at undergraduate or graduate level. This means that in relative terms (considering its population) Greece is one of the largest exporter of students in the world.
Education 2010 took place at Helexpo Palace on March 19 – 21 and counted on the participation of Universidad.es Foundation that represented the Spanish university system. Both the Instituto Cervantes and the Counselor of Education, Spanish Embassy in Athens, were present in the event.
Universidad.es Foundation joined other national agencies already present in previous meetings, thus ensuring the visibility as well as the international promotion of Spanish universities.
The participation in the fair lied in strategic reasons in order to assure the consolidation of Spain as first-choice destination of Erasmus students from Greece (roughly 500) as well as to enhance their enrolment in postgraduate studies.

Universidad.es is a public sector foundation that aims to promote the Spanish university system throughout the world. The foundation was set up by the Spanish government with the support of Spain’s regional governments and of the universities themselves, on 23 December 2008, when the first meeting of its Board of Trustees was held.
