Following several months of work, the Universidad.es Foundation is now ready for its official presentation. The event, addressed to members of the Spanish university community, the media and the general public, will take place on 24 March at the Casa América in Madrid under the direction of Ángel Gabilondo, Minister for Education and President of the Universidad.es Foundation Board of Trustees. Guests of honour will include Dr. Allan Goodman, President of the US-headquartered Institute of International Education (IIE), who will give a talk on “Universities as actors of public diplomacy”.

During its first months of activity, the Foundation has laid down its structural and administrative foundations and built a strong presence on the Internet through its institutional website, social networking sites, and a variety of other forums, providing international students with a wealth of information on study and research opportunities available in Spain. Universidad.es has also attended a number of international education fairs and events to coordinate the activities of Spanish institutions represented. Visibility is crucial to the success of the Foundation´s work, and establishing a strong international profile is the ideal way to support its fundamental mission: to promote the Spanish university system throughout the world.

Universidad.es is a public sector foundation that aims to promote the Spanish university system throughout the world. The foundation was set up by the Spanish government with the support of Spain’s regional governments and of the universities themselves, on 23 December 2008, when the first meeting of its Board of Trustees was held.
