For the second year in a row, the Universidad.es Foundation and its German counterpart DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) will convene the Julián sanz del Río award. The award’s main goal is to incentivize scientific, humanistic, and cultural cooperation between Spain and Germany, and aims to recognize the work of talented young people who have dedicated themselves professionally to fomenting this kind of relationship between the two countries.
In the last award session, focusing on Social and Juridical Sciences, Dr. Mirja Feldman of Germany and Dr. Carlos Díaz Sanz of Spain were the recipients of the awards. This time, the prize will be centred on topics relating to the Natural Sciences, and will be awarded to distinguished researchers who have obtained their Doctorate in either a Spanish or German university.
A panel of international renown will be responsible for selecting the winners. The German and Spanish doctors will receive a 5,000€ stipend in addition to a research scholarship for a one-month stay in the other country.
Applicants may submit their entries until March 31, 2011. The rules and entry forms can be consulted at www.universidad.es/premio and www.daad.es/premio.
