The Director-General of the Universidad.es Foundation, José Manuel Martínez Sierra, took part in the Ibero-American Meeting of University Alumni (CIbAU), held on 25/26 November in Huelva and Seville. At the meeting, he outlined the Foundation’s involvement in alumni affairs through its “Universidad.es Alumni network”.
“The Internationalization of the Ibero-American University” was the title of the round table held at the Universidad Internacional de Andalucia (UNIA), where Martínez Sierra was accompanied by Alejandro Tiana Ferrer, Director-General of the Organization of Ibero-American States, and Félix García Lausin, Director of the Ibero-American University Council. The table was presided over by the University of La Laguna’s Vice-rector for Internationalization and Excellence, Rodrigo Trujillo González.
The meeting was supported by the Ibero-American General Secretariat and was attended by representatives of associations of Ibero-American alumni, and by representatives of universities from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The Universidad.es Foundation has set up cooperation agreements with the members of the CIbAU in order to create an Ibero-American alumni platform which, among other duties, will carry out academic certification and will help in the processing of combined degrees. The first results of the meeting will be seen in Cádiz, where the meeting of the Ibero-American Heads of State will be held in 2012.

The foundation was set up by the Spanish government with the support of Spain’s universities, the regional governments and other institutions.
