Why study Spanish?

Spanish is a world language, and the one with the highest current rate of growth. With around 400 million speakers, it is the third most spoken language in the world today, after Mandarin Chinese and English and is an official language in 21 countries.

 The USA, where more than 15% of the population is of Latin origin, now has more Spanish speakers than Spain and in fact is now surpassed only by Mexico. Spanish is also the official language of many international organizations.
