Senior Professorship in Higher Education at NYU - Focus on Global Dimension

New York Universitys program in Higher and Postsecondary Education invites nominations and applications for a tenured professorship in higher education. Our academic programs include masters, PhD and EdD degrees designed to prepare researchers, practitioners and leaders of colleges, universities and policy organizations. This new professorship will provide the opportunity to strengthen the global dimensions of our research programs and curricular offerings. Appointment will include affiliation with NYUs Steinhardt Institute for Higher Education Policy.

Candidates must be internationally recognized scholars whose research focuses on one or more of these areas: organization and governance: public policy; strategic planning; economics and finance in higher education. We are interested in candidates who are examining the impact of globalization on the contemporary university as well as on national systems of higher education.

Responsibilities: Research, teaching and mentoring of students.

Qualifications: The candidate must have:

  • an earned doctorate in higher education, public administration, or a discipline such as sociology or economics the candidate has used to study higher education;
  • a record of having contributed in well-recognized ways to the study and practice of higher education
  • experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students and in directing their dissertation research;
  • a sustained record of funded research projects;
  • a record of publication in major academic journals in the field of higher education or related disciplines as well as books that contribute substantially to the understanding and practice of higher education.

Timeline: Review of credentials will begin in December 2010.
